Hatchie – Giving the World Away (4/22) (Singles – Lights On, This Enchanted, Quicksand, Giving the World Away)
WOW! Excellent new dream pop from Australian artist Hatchie on her second album. She’s coming next Friday the 6th with Caroline Loveglow and I am NOT missing that. She is an incredible pop songwriter, the first two tracks specifically are just pop BLISS. It kinda sounds like if Taylor Swift wrote for Cocteau Twins (“Quicksand” sounds straight out of the 1989 album). PLEASE don’t miss this one! We’ll be playing it a bunch at the station, I just know it.FJM is back! First album in four years. Should be good, the singles are great. He’s back with his classic sarcastic lyrics with a classic pop backing, and any fan of his previous stuff shouldn’t miss this.
Spiritualized – Everything Was Beautiful (4/22) (Singles – Crazy, Always Together with You) CLEAN
Spiritualized ages so well. Ladies and Gentlemen is a touchstone of ‘90s psych-rock, and their more recent releases are very lovely, reflective, and extravagant in a different way from that earlier stuff, and I absolutely adore it.
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard – Omnium Gatherum (4/22) (Singles – Magenta Mountain, Kepler-22b)
Psychedelic rock band GIANTS King Gizz with their 20TH ALBUM! There’s some thrash, hip-hop, jam band stuff, and the classic psych-rock stuff they’re known for. Check it! It’s 80 minutes long, joining Big Thief and Beach House as 21st century indie legends with 80+-minute albums in 2022.
Psychedelic Porn Crumpets – Night Gnomes (4/22) (Singles – Bubblegum Infinity, Lava Lamp Pisco)
Some more Australian psych-rock. Really cool band with really cool music videos, and I’ve been waiting for this album for a couple months, some really heavy but quirky stuff in here.
Hotline TNT – When You Find Out (04.27.22) EP
Hotline TNT rips and they keep cranking out new music. If you’re a fan of Ovlov, Toner, Weed (the band guys omg I swear just the band omg) then you should definitely check this EP out. It’s both extremely chill while also being up tempo and exciting to listen to. Hotline TNT is a band to keep your eye on. My favorite track off this EP is Tie-Dye but let us know what your favorite is!!
Colonial Smokes – Now & Then EP (4/1) (Single – Everything)
Local music! Singer/songwriter, indie rock, emo all in one. Really cool stuff, the Mike’s Carwash crew put me onto them. It’s fronted by this one guy who’s apparently really nice and produced Sam Simpson’s Rushing a Means to an End album. Check it!
