Here's a short history of The Stress Factor from all the information that we could collect...
The Stress Factor was started in 1986 by Bill Fisher. Legend has it that he approached the Directors of then WJUL and proposed the station's first metal show. They were skeptical at first, thinking of spandex and glam but he convinced them that it would be like nothing they'd ever heard before, all underground. It was originally called Metallic Mayhem and his cohost was Trish Chapman. It started in the Thursday, 6 to 10 PM timeslot, adjusting length as the WJUL schedule changed but retaining that prime time slot ever since inception.
A few years later, it was passed on to Ian Kane. Ian renamed it The Stress Factor. It was later passed on to Tim Bithoney and renamed Pizza by the Slice. In the early nineties, it was passed on to Rich Fatalo, who named it back to The Stress Factor. Rich ran The Stress Factor for about ten years and founded Lost Disciple Records, releasing the first Blood for Blood CD and several brutal metal CDs during his stint at WJUL.
Currently, The Stress Factor is hosted by Pat "Foghorn" Ellis and Jason Gibbs.
